Leanda McKenna

Leanda McKennaHi, I’m Leanda, and I am passionate about Sports Physiotherapy. I have a special interest in Women’s Health and have over 25 years’ experience in the industry.

Having worked in public hospitals and private practice in WA, the NT and the UK, I have extensive understanding of a broad range of conditions. Further, I was a lecturer for Physiotherapy at Curtin University. I have completed my Masters in Sports physiotherapy and hold a PhD where I specialised in shoulder pain in adolescent swimmers. Even though I now practise physiotherapy, I continue to research shoulder pain, as well as mastitis and upper back pain in women.

Additionally, I supervise Physiotherapists who are conducting Masters and PhD research. I frequently contribute to the development of the physiotherapy profession through the publication of multiple research papers, presentations at Sports Medicine Australia, World Confederation for Physical Therapy, and the Australian Physiotherapy Association National and State conferences. In the past I have spoken at the Australian Physiotherapy Association and King Edward Memorial Hospital.

Finally, outside of work, I am a mother of three, and a keen runner and cyclist, and have completed three team swims to Rottnest.
